2016 is the 32nd year that Boy Scout Troop #112 has coordinated a Holiday Food and Gift Basket program in Glide.   With the help of numerous community volunteers, the troop brings holiday cheer to hundreds of Glide area residents.

Scouting for Food

Though the Scouts ramrod this event, countless community members join in the effort.  Like they say, "It takes a village."
It is truly inspiring  how our community rallies behind this project.  Neighbors reaching out to help neighbors.

This year we had an exceptionally cold time prepping for the event and it was held at a new location.
Just about everyone was working outside this year.   We're all really glad it didn't snow on us.

The process of filling the boxes begins.

The boxes are filled to overflowing with lots of food items.

Cases of oranges, apples, and onions must be divided up.

The check-in crew is ready and waiting.

Bagging chickens

Putting the perishables into the boxes on delivery morning.

Did anyone mention it was COLD, as in the mid-twenties?

The toothpaste/toothbrush crew drinks hot coco as they wait.

By mid-afternoon when things slowed down, there was a group hug.

The crew that actually delivers the boxes, waiting for the next car.

The scout officially in charge of tearing down boxes.
HUMMMMMM.  Looks like a box house was constructed prior to the demolition.l

Everybody pitches in to help with cleanup.

AHHHH!  Appreciating the warmth of the sunshine.

Hauling away empty egg  and milk crates.
Looks like we're about to lose one of those milk crates.

Last job of the day was to remove the plywood sidewalk.
